Every home based business owner knows that they need website traffic if they are going to generate leads and sales for their business. The problem is there are so many websites competing for the same market share this can make it difficult. This is especially tru if you do not have a large advertising budget to compete with.
Even if you have a large advertising budget you can quickly depleted if you do not know what you’re doing. Eventually what happens is home business owners began to look for free ways to generate website traffic.
What I want to do in this article is give you 4 ways to get free website traffic and all it will take is a little bit of hard work and some of your time.
1. Today blogging is an actual way to generate traffic to your home business. You should include a link from your home business website to your blog and vice versa.
You then need to blog on a consistent basis and social bookmark your blog post. This creates back links that can generate traffic from the social directory readers as well as search engine bait.
2. Article marketing continues to be one of the best ways to get free traffic today. By writing and submitting quality articles with a resource box at the bottom of them you stand an excellent chance of getting traffic to your website.
The key is to submit your articles to some of the most highly visited websites, or use the submission service to mass submit them to multiple article directories at once. Over time this can create a tremendous amount of links pointing back to your website and potential visitors from them.
3. Posting in discussion forums continues to work as a way to get traffic. There is an art to how you do this, but as long as you build your credibility by offering useful information, people will want to learn more about you.
You are allowed to create a signature file in most discussion forums. This signature file should include a short classified ad about you, your products, and of course a link to your website.
4. One interesting way that is free is to develop website traffic from traffic exchanges. You want to join traffic exchanges that have a credit based system where you earn credits for having your ad shown every time you surf a page. You can then build up credits by surfing more pages or even by purchasing them.
In summary this is four places to get free website traffic that take nothing more then a little bit of hard work and some of your time.
Blogging is extremely popular today. Many people use their blog strictly as a way to earn income. For people who have a home business already on the Internet blogging can be an excellent way to build it as well. Let’s take a little bit closer look at how to use blogging to build your home business.
Blogs are nothing more then a journal where you post your thoughts. If you have a home business where people are interacting with you, and trying to copy your success, you can send them to your blog and use it as a training tool.
As you write blog articles they can subscribe to your RSS feed and be notified instantly of any updates. You can also build an email marketing list of home businesssubscribers, and just refer them to your blog to read any updates that you are making.
Today blogs are extremely interactive when you use them properly. For example various forms of social media have become an excellent way to provide excitement in your blog and build your home business at the same time.
You see many blogs contain videos that a person can watch to learn more about home business opportunity. You can record a video and post it online very easily today. Yet the results that come from this can be a tremendous addition to your home business.
You can also add polls and surveys and allow people to vote in those. Many blogs contain a place for people to add comments, and these become a great way for you to reply back and forth to your readers.
A blog is only as good as the content being placed on it. If you are going to use your blog to build your home business then you will need to post articles into it on a consistent basis. This can be a great way to create traffic as search engines begin to spider your blog.
You can also create search engine traffic from social directories by bookmarking your blog post to them. As long as you’re posting and bookmarking on a regular basis you can expect to see some search engine traffic in the future.
One final thing we want to mention is you can put a sign up form to your mailing list and give away a free report on your blog. This is a great way to build your mailing list for future follow up and another way to utilize your blog to build your home business.
There is an interesting phenomenon in the online marketing business and it goes by the name of “program hopping”. Many of you will have encountered it, most of you will have succumbed to it, and a lot of you will continue to fall victim to it!
I know from personal experience how easy it is to jump from one “next best thing” to another. You may even, like me, have justified it in your mind as “research”. You may have kidded yourself that you were “diversifying” or “building multiple streams of income”.
There is nothing wrong with research, and certainly much benefit to be gained from diversification, but it needs to be done the right way. Remember the saying “walk before you can run”? That applies to online marketing on many levels.
So make a commitment to yourself right now; identify your PRIMARY business and give a minimum of 90 days where you are focused on that and that alone. Ignore any other “great opportunity” that comes your way and build your primary business.
Once your core business is up and running, once it is providing you with income, and once you get to where it needs minimum attention to KEEP running, that is the point at which you can look to add another income stream.
I recently made a similar commitment to Changing The World 2Gether, and even went so far as to CANCEL memberships of various systems I had joined. It was actually quite a sobering experience to realise just how many things I had joined in the last 12 months for “research purposes”. Even more sobering was realising how much I had spent, and was continuing to spend on systems that were simply gathering dust.
So my “biz op detox” went a little like this - I cancelled anything that had a physical product being sold via MLM. I cancelled membership of systems that paid out on referring other members. I even dropped my Direct Matches account back down to free status.
The money being spent on those systems can now be used on the ONE BUSINESS that I am focused on for a minimum of 90 days.
Like a more conventional “detox” I feel a heck of a lot better, my focus is very clearly defined, and my time and energy are being used more effectively. The previous approach was in danger of derailing my successful business activities.
If this sounds like you, start your business detox TODAY!
